Coloma Resort - Panning Class
Located just an hour northeast of Sacramento you will find Coloma Resort, an exceptionally excellent spot for your group to consider a night of camping or cottage lodging, your stay filled with history, education, and outdoor excitement galore.
You will have the options of tent camping, staying in cabins, or even within the onsite Country Cottage, allowing your group plenty of options for lodging during your stay. While the experience of staying the night here along the American River is enticing on its own, the main reasons we like to suggest this resort for groups are the expansive outdoor recreation and local learning opportunities provided with your stay.
Your group can spend a day white water rafting or tubing the South Fork, participating in the team building Ropes Challenge Course, or our favorite option, Gold Panning. Any age or experience level can take part in trying their luck finding gold, on-site gold panning experts teaching guests the tricks of the trade within the salted gold troughs throughout. You can also sign up for a 45-minute course over spanning, a highly educational and immersive California experience you won’t want to miss. At night be sure to head to the campfire for storytelling, subjects discussed including Native American life, Mountain Men endeavors, and Gold Miner dangers.
There are onsite catering options as well as the close-by Argonaut farm to fork cafe, and of course, bringing your own picnic lunch is always an option.
