Oregon Zoo
Award-winning exhibits, sultry summer concerts, and entertaining daily special events await you at the popular 64-acre Oregon Zoo, located in Portland.
Just five minutes from downtown Portland, in Washington Park, you will be able to discover over 2,000 animals from around the world, including 21 endangered species and 35 threatened species. This zoo aims to be a model of sustainable conservation of natural resources in practically everything it does, renowned worldwide for its conservation work and elephant breeding program. These things combined, plus its incredible in-park experience, make it extremely easy to see why over 1.6 million visitors come here per year.
Inside the park, you and your group will have the chance to discover several different species of bird, reptile, amphibian, mammal, fish, and invertebrate, each animal section within the park holding several educational, interactive, and really fun experiences. You can choose to take a special zoo tour, stroll through the park yourselves, or maybe just take a ride on the fun scenic train that has a route through the entire park.
Be sure to wear your walking shoes while here, because you will have countless opportunities to see several different interactive exhibits such as the African Rainforest, or Predators of the Serengeti. There are also botanical gardens, each featuring a different native plant of the Pacific Northwest region’s rainforests. These exhibits, trails, and scenic vistas altogether feature over 1,000 exotic plants, a favorite of many being the Firebird Heliconia. Be sure to also save plenty of time to check out the gift shop, or any of the 5 onsite eateries, there are even seasonal food trucks and carts throughout the park!
